  • Fall 2015-16 BGR Marching Schedules

    Posted on by BGR

    Hello Wilcox,

We have completed our schedule for fall marching band season and I hope to see many new and returning faces into our program! Keep track of all the dates listed and remember that if you have any questions/conflicts with the season feel free to ask for help. There is nothing wrong with having a life outside of band, just remember to be responsible and communicate any possible issues with me so that we can work things out. It’s never fair to the group, the staff, your friends, and to yourselves if we have random absences without prior notice.

Contracts/medical/images release/and other forms will be available soon so stay tuned that those items!

    Big notes for the season:

    Rehearsals are Mondays & Wednesdays at 5:30pm – 8:30pm

There is a mandatory parent meeting on August 26 at 7:30pm -8:30pm

We are going to 4 NCBA competitions, 1 SJSU Band day, and 6+ football game performances this year so double check your calendars!

There are additional times for drum/guard sectionals on Fridays to help you guys have more time with instruments/instruction.

And finally there are only 2 extra Saturday weekends in the whole season in addition to the normal schedule for show design so don’t be absent!

A final note that any drum/guard members are welcome and encouraged to join our summer clinics every Saturday from 10:30am -1pm. Pit percussion may also join to practice as well! Guard has been attending but the more members we have practicing the better! Drum instruction will begin in early August.

  • 2015 Summer Practice Schedules!

    Posted on by BGR

    Hello All,

I hope everybody is having a great summer so far! Now that we are coming off all the hype from the DCI shows at Stanford and Pacific Procession we can get to our own times to practice our music.

We encourage all new/veteran color guard members that wish to be a part of this year’s flag and weapon team to join our Saturday training sessions starting July 11th. Practice times are from 10:30am – 2pm and our very own AJ has offered to help teach you guys out of the goodness of his heart. (Do note that this year we are refining our guard program and new members should join during the fall season. When Winter season comes around we will be avoiding adding a bunch of new members that have not been training during the fall or interim workshop periods. More details on that when winter season starts!)

Drumline practices will also be held on Saturday’s but will begin in August. For any veteran members that want to practice on their own, feel free to stop by during the guard rehearsals and keep your chops up. The doors will be open on Saturday’s 10:30am – 2pm starting July 11. New drumline members will be welcomed into our August camps so stay tuned for announcements on that!

Band camp will be held for winds/brass on Monday July 27 – Friday July 31st as noted in our previous announcement!

And finally a reminder to all friends and family to come support the band  on July 4th at the All-City Picnic in central park from 12pm – 5pm.

    Hello Everybody!

I would like to congratulate everybody for finishing the winter season with such high accomplishments! We have improved so much over the past few months and I hope we all continue to make this program even better in the future!

Here are the playlists for the last and first shows that each group performed. Check out all the changes we have done throughout the season!

    Upcoming notes:

Winter Banquet is on April 23rd at Wilcox (Band room or cafeteria TBA) from 6pm – 8pm. The event is Potluck so make sure to signup to bring food for everybody. Hopefully we have actual food and not a million different desserts! There should be ~35 members + their families +  percussion and guard staff attending so plan accordingly.

The Spring Spectacular will have solo performances from music members along with a performance from the Winter Percussion and Guard groups. Please review your work on the rehearsal dates of April 21, 23, 28, and 30 from 3pm – 5pm so we can showcase our talents for all the spectators! Feel free to practice on your own over spring break too!

Thank you all for a great season and make sure to keep fundraising for next year!
