Passport Information!!

You may fill out the application online or download it and fill it out manually. Recommendation is to do it manually.

http://travel.state.gov/

Go to Passports for U.S. Citizens - click on Application and Forms

Follow prompts to do it online or scroll down to Complete Passport Application Forms Manually (click on it)

You now can download and print your application.
*DO NOT APPLY FOR A PASSPORT CARD - THAT'S ONLY FOR LAND ENTRANCES INTO MEXICO OR CANADA - not for Air travel. MUST GET A PASSPORT BOOK!

Look at the fees - under 16 yrs old is less. You pay for the Application ($75.00) + fee ($25.00), and pics ($15.00) and the postage depending on how you want to send it. Ask them for a recommendation. I got the pics right there at the Post Office.
*You will need to send a certified birth certificate (not a copy -  an original! - they will send it back)

I went to this post office D 4601 Lafayette St, Santa Clara, CA - (408) 988-0584

It took only 15 mins (filled out the form at home). I don't know about the Sunnyvale PO if they do this or not. The only other Santa Clara PO that does passports is the one at the Franklin Mall - that's by appointment only. The Lafayette office doesn't require an appointment.

I got mine renewed (renewal fee and postage) and a new one for my son in 15 mins at the PO and it only took about 3 weeks for us to get the new passports.
